This magnificent Gold coin pays tribute to one of the rarest treasures of Spanish colonial coinage-the unique 1770 8 Escudos minted in Guatemala. Struck during the reign of Charles III, this piece reflects the early history of the Guatemala Mint, founded in 1731 and relocated after the 1773 earthquake. The original coin, marked with the historic “G” mintmark, survives today as a single known specimen preserved in the Spanish Mint Museum. Now faithfully recreated in stunning Proof quality as part of the Joyas del Museo Casa de la Moneda series.
