This is a late 20th century Daum, Nancy, large and heavy paté de verre Poissons bowl or coupelle. The bowl is in excellent condition. It shows minimal age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with use. The bowl is in the form of an open sphere depicting fish swimming in an ocean with breaking waves at the top. The lower part of the bowl sits on the backs of three fish whose tail fins act as the “legs” of the bowl. The bowl is cast in predominantly blue glass with amber glass highlights for the crashing waves. The bowl measures 13 cm (5.2 inches) in diameter at its widest point. The bowl 14 cm (5.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any other obvious evidence of restoration. The bowl is unsigned but unmistakably Daum.
